Sony have announce that they will be holding a special PlayStation press event in New York City on the 20th Feb 2013 at 6pm EST. It is believed that they could reveal their next-generation console.
Industry analyst Michael Pachter said on Twitter “Sony is inviting investors and media to the Feb 20 event; that means console announcement.”
Sony CEO Kaz Hirai had previously indicated that it wasn’t a priority for them to launch their next-generation console before Microsoft so his comments might turn out to have been clever PR to wrongfoot his business rivals. It also means it dominates all next-gen conversation, websites, magazines etc until the next Xbox reveal.
It’s possible that the new console will be called the PlayStation 4 as the PlayStaton.com web address http://us.playstation.com/ps4/ redirects visitors to the front page.
