If you are using a Kindle Fire HD and there is a screen that you want to store for posterity you can take a picture of it.
To take a screenshot of what is currently displayed on your Kindle Fire:
1) Simultaneously press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button. The Kindle Fire will make a camera shutter sound as it takes the picture.
2) To view the picture press the Home button to return to the Home screen. Select the Photos library button, then Screenshots. All screenshots that have been taken will be listed here. Tap one to view it.
